Meriel Ionia Morris

Meriel Ionia Towery Morris, 89, of Linwood-Southmont Road died Saturday, July 1, 2023 at her home. A funeral service will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Scott Kidd. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Morris was born May 7, 1934 in Cleveland County to the late Bill and Bessie Odem Towery. She was of the Baptist faith and had retired from PPG Industries. Preceding her in death were her husband Clarence Cleveland Morris, sons Robert Craig and William Eugene Morris, and all her brothers and sisters. Surviving are her daughter Cynthia Morris of Lexington; grandchildren Tammy Schaffer, Jason Morris, Randall Morris, and Debra King; great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Jenna,Triston, Selicity, Joshua, Lexi-Rose, Shannon Justice, Brandi Sheffer, and Dalton Sheffer, in addition to many nieces, nephews, and daughter-in-law Nancy Morris.
