Mattie Elizabeth Young

Mattie Elizabeth “Beth” Young, age 77, passed away March 29, 2024 at home surrounded by her AFL family. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Randy Hall. The family will greet friends at Piedmont Funeral Home at 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Beth was born in Forsyth County, December 10, 1946, to Laura Fritts Young and Claude Cicero Young. Her parents preceded her in death. Beth was the first baby baptized in Fairmont Presbyterian Church where she remained an active member until the church closed. She then attended First Presbyterian Church as long as she was able. Beth is survived by her cousin and legal guardian Alma Carlton, her AFL family and caregivers Sam and Emily Wilson, and the Albright and Wilson families. The family wishes to thank Sam and Emily Wilson, Easter Seals, Therapeutic Alternatives, Davidson County Sheltered Workshop, and Davidson County ARC for the services provided to Beth throughout her life. Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
