Mary Jo Poole

Mary Jo Barnes Poole, 100, of Tyro died Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Davidson Health and Rehab. A funeral service will be Friday at 3:00 PM at Tyro Methodist Church, where she was the oldest member, conducted by Rev. Randy Foster. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Mrs. Poole was born September 30, 1923 in Davidson County to the late Royal Frances Barnes and Zana Pearl Michael Barnes. She was a retired cook with Stamey’s Barbecue in Tyro. Preceding her in death were husband Ralph Monk “Bud” Poole, and brothers John, Siebert, and Mike Barnes. Surviving are sons Joey Dean Poole (Donna), and Ralph Kent Poole; daughters Nancy Joyce Stamey, and Paula deBettencourt; grandchildren Scoot Stamey (Julie), Matt Stamey (Karen), Robin Holbrook, Kailynn Poole, and Bryan deBettencourt (Crystal); great-grandchildren, Katie Williams (Josh), Ian Stamey, Cooper Holbrook, Alex deBettencourt, and Seppy deBettencourt; and great-great grandchildren Harlan Williams, and Waylan Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tyro Methodist Church, 4484 South NC Hwy 150, Lexington, NC 27295, or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
