Mary Louise Swicegood

Mary Louise Young Swicegood, age 83, of Alston Brook Nursing Home, formerly of Old Pasture Road, Churchland, passed away Christmas morning (December 25, 2009) at Alston Brook. Funeral service will, be held at 3:00 pm Sunday (December 27, 2009) at Churchland Baptist Church. with Rev. Ray Howell, IV, officiating. Burial will follow in Snider Family Cemetery, Churchland. Mrs. Swicegood was born in Davidson County, February 11, 1926 to Charley Frank Young and Sarah Jane Ward Young. She was a former employee with Mid-State Tile, Normans of Salisbury, NC Finishing Company and a member of Churchland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifton Clarence Swicegood, two sisters Pauline Brinkley and Isabelle Thompson. Surviving are; two daughters, Janie Swicegood Sink and husband Gary of Thomasville and Susan Swicegood Boswell and husband Perry of Welcome; one son Tony C. Swicegood of Gibson, NC and wife, Nancy Swicegood of Churchland; four grandchildren, Craig Swicegood wife Kate of Kannapolis, Phillip Sink and wife Irene of Brooklyn, NY, Michael Swicegood and wife Melissa of Churchland and Brennen Boswell of Welcome; one great-grandson, James Carlton Swicegood of Churchland; one brother, Charley Frank Young of Churchland. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to Churchland Baptist Church Building Fund, 7516 NC Highway 150 South, Lexington, NC 27295 or Alston Brook, 4748 Old Salisbury Road, Lexington, NC 27295. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm Sunday, prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of Churchland Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Alston Brook for the exceptional care and love given our mother the past three years.
