Martha Mcrae Spears

Martha McRae Scarborough Spears, 86, formerly of West Sixth Avenue died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Carolina House of Lexington. A memorial graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 20 , 2014 at Lexington City Cemetery by the Revs. Jamie Armstrong and Doug Rowe. The family will see friends after the service. Mrs. Spears was born May 13, 1928 in Davidson County to Walter Lee and Julia Harkey Scarborough. For many years she was the church hostess for First United Methodist Church of Lexington, where she was a member, and also a volunteer for Hospice of Davidson County. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Grace Conrad. Surviving are sons Marion Lee Spears, Jr. of Salisbury, Robert Spears of Gold Beach, Oregon; and daughter Julia Livingston and husband Robert of Studio City, California. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
