Margaret S. Ramsey

Margaret Sigmon Ramsey, 88, of S. NC Highway 150, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving, caring family. Mrs. Ramsey was born March 3, 1928, in Catawba County to Charlie Yates and Louise Coley Sigmon. Mrs. Ramsey was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church and as an artist painted a rendering of Ruth from the Bible which hangs in the Ruth Sunday School Class. Mrs. Ramsey, a Registered Nurse, retired from Lexington Memorial Hospital after more than 55 years of service with the Hospital. She never considered her position at the Hospital as a job but as a privilege serving the community through her position in the Emergency Department. Mrs. Ramsey enjoyed the challenge of assisting every patient, their families and the employees of the Hospital. She never lost her yearning to be back in the Emergency Department in the middle of the daily flow. Mrs. Ramsey’s hobbies including painting and working with ceramics. Her home life was filled with cooking, canning, and taking care of her family and friends without any thought of herself. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her sisters Ruby Goodman, Dean Crowell, brother Charles Ray Sigmon, and daughter-in-law Cindy Ramsey (Alan). Also preceding her in death was her “four-legged child” Weanie. Surviving are sons, Tracy Ramsey and wife Linda of Salisbury, Alan Ramsey of Concord and Tony Ramsey of Linwood; daughters, Tammy Thompson and husband Mark of Linwood, Lisa Ramsey of Linwood; sister, Linda Sigmon of Linwood. Also surviving are grandchildren Christopher Ramsey of Thomasville, Brandy Ramsey and Jason Ramsey of Linwood. The funeral service for Mrs. Ramsey will be Monday, December 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Hargrave officiating. Interment will follow in Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Linwood. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 before the service at Piedmont Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
