Margaret Helen Leonard

Mrs. Margaret Helen Koontz Leonard, 92, of Piedmont Crossing, Thomasville died Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the retirement center. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 21 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Howell officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Columbarium of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Leonard was born in Davidson County December 15, 1930 to the late Willis Gray and Leona Snider Koontz. A homemaker, she was a member of First Baptist Church, Lexington. Preceding her in death were husband Rodney Lane Leonard, sister Nancy Koontz Coffey and sister in law Mary Cook Koontz. Surviving are son Lane Leonard and wife Lee of Little River, SC; daughter Shelley McKnight of Linwood; and brother Robert W. “Bob” Koontz of Reeds. Also surviving are grandchildren Margaret “Meg” Callahan and husband Bryan of Roanoke, Va., Daniel Brubaker of Greenville, NC, and Jared Brubaker of Mt. Airy, in addition to great-grandchildren Connor Brubaker, Easton Brubaker, and Landon Callahan, and a long line of cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Piedmont Crossing for the love and compassion shown to Mrs. Leonard for the past twenty years.
