Mabel Everhart Murphy, 92, of Greensboro Street Extension, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 in Lexington Memorial Hospital from complications of Pneumonia. A graveside service will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 11, 2009 in Lexington City Cemetery. Those remembering her will be the Rev. George Fidler, Mr. Joe Davis and others. Mrs. Murphy was born in Davidson County, NC on January 8, 1917 to the late Charles Everhart and Lina Jane Frazier Everhart. She was a retired employee of Wenonah Cotton Mill. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, H.H. “Bud” Murphy, two sisters, Linda Hanes and Myrtis Miller and four brothers, Roy , Earl, Pearl, and Carl Everhart. Mrs. Murphy wanted her niece and caregiver, Mary Alice Swing and her husband Dickie and family, and nephew, Leonard Everhart and his wife Ann and family, to know how much she appreciated the care she received from them, and also from her nieces, Penny H. Canady, and Ruth Walser. She is survived by her loving stepdaughter, Ruth M. Wilkerson of Lynchburg, VA, her step grandson, Michael Dorsey of Lynchburg, VA, her step granddaughter, Elizabeth Cooke of Charlotte, and 2 step great grandsons. Also surviving is a special sister in law, Mary Everhart of Lexington and a number of other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends following the graveside service on Thursday and other times will be at their respective homes. The family would like to thank the staff and Nurses at Lexington Memorial Hospital, especially in ICU and Dr. Ben Wilson and Lexington Family Physicians for their care of Mrs. Murphy during her illness.
