Luther "Eddie" Coughenour

Luther Edwin “Eddie” Coughenour, Jr. of NC S Highway 150 passed away Monday at Wake Forest Baptist. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday at Yadkin Missionary Baptist Church in Spencer where he was a member, with the Rev. Randy Kinley officiating and Rev. David Ayers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Luther was born in Rowan County on December 17, 1957 to the late Luther Edwin Coughenour, Sr. and Sadie Bell Grubb Coughenour. Through the years he held many positions in the Church, he was president of the brotherhood, Sunday School Superintendent, youth teacher assistant, assistant choir director, buildings and ground committee, cemetery committee and puppet team, mowed and maintained the church grounds. He used his amazing artistic ability to create and design props for the church puppet team, vacation Bible school and programs/productions at Yadkin Missionary Baptist Church. He was always first to arrive for everything and usually one of the last to leave. He took care of many widowed elders in the neighborhood with mowing and handy man work. He is in the arms of Jesus, but he will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Annette Earnhardt. Surviving is his wife, Joyce Johnson Coughenour of the home, son, Chris Coughenour (Kristin) of Moorsville, daughter, Pamela Norris (Lee) of China Grove, step-daughters, Barbara Carpenter of Lexington and Shirley Lynch of Winston Salem, grandchildren, Brody Norris and Maverick Coughenour, step-grandchildren, Jessica Poole, Courtney Phillips, Danger Phillips and Mercedes Phillips, step-great-grandchildren, Paxton Keller and Aurora Poole and several nieces and nephews.
