Louise Shoaf Simerson

Louise Shoaf Simerson, age 91, a resident of Carolina House, formerly of Tyro Road, Lexington, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington, NC. Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:00 P.M., October 25, 2009 from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she was a member, with the Rev. Howard Baker officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 1 to 4 P.M. at Vanderford Hall at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the Sandy Creek Cemetery, Lexington, NC. Mrs. Simerson was born in Davidson County, NC on December 27, 1917 to the late Fred Casey Shoaf, Sr. and Bessie Golden Leonard Shoaf. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband, Herman Carter Simerson: One sister Kathleen Grubb and two brothers Telo Shoaf, and I.N. “Bud” Shoaf also preceded her in death. Mrs. Simerson was a graduate of Applachian State Teachers College, where she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Soriety. Also she was a member of the North Carolina Association of Educators. She had retired from the Davidson County School System , having taught for 51 years, Mrs. Simerson was a Lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, having taught Sunday School for over 60 years. Surviving are six brothers: Tommy W. Shoaf and his wife, Betty Jean, Fred Casey Shoaf, Jr., James E. Shoaf, Billy Wayne Shoaf and his wife, Helen, Charles Henry Shoaf and his wife, Deanna and Donald Ray Shoaf and his wife, Frankie all of Lexington: Three sisters, Mable Koontz of Chapel Hill, Tina May of Lexington, and Maxine Richardson of Mocksville, and a number of Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends at Vanderford Hall or other times at her brothers home, Tommy Shoaf on Tyro Road. Lexington. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4299 South. NC Highway 150, Lexington, NC 27295 or of the Donor’s choice.
