Lonnie Ray Lawson, 68, of Yarborough Dr., died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. David Edwards. Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Lonnie was born August 2, 1946 in Stokes County to Sanders Akers and Virginia Roberts Lawson. He was of the Baptist faith, and retired as superintendent of Hanes Paving Company after 30-plus years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were two sisters, Carolyn Craig and Helen Morgan. Surviving are his wife, Mollie Lawson of the home; daughters Shelia Johnson (Barney) of Thomasville, Danette Edwards (Michael Garner), Rena Cilluffo (Scott), and Terri Lawson all of Lexington; brother Charles Lawson and sister Penny Hicks (Hayman) all of Lexington; grandchildren, Kenny Griffin (Kym), Andrew Lawson, Alex Sechrest, Kevin Sechrest, Josh Garner (Courtney), Eric Griffin, Cady Sechrest, Nick Edwards (Brittany), Taylor Wyre, Emma Sechrest, Bailee Wyre, and Joey Cilluffo; great-grandchildren Daron Lawson, Chandler Boggs, Ian Lawson, Hendrix Griffin, and Sean Sechrest; and his beloved four-legged friend Peeper.
