Mr. Lindsay Paul Burkhart, 86, of Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center, Yadkinville, formerly of Advance and Lexington, NC passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, December 15, 2025, at the nursing center.
A graveside service will be Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 11:00 am at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington, NC conducted by the family.
Paul was born August 24, 1939 in Davidson County to the late Glenn Wilson Burkhart and Regina Walker Burkhart. He was in the United States Army National Guard Engineer Service from 1959-1965 as an armed vehicle driver with the Co E 105th Eng Bn. While in the service, he also played baseball for the Army which eventually transitioned to coaching little league. He retired from Lexington Telephone Company. He was of the United Church of Christ faith, and a 32nd degree Mason with the Lexington Memorial Lodge 473.
Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Barbara; a grandson, Ethan Barnes; a great-granddaughter, Stella Kate Agee; and a brother, Harold G. Burkhart. After marrying his wife, Barbara, on July 3, 1959, they were avid golfers and fly fishermen, often traveling near and abroad to do so, and loved spending time with daughter Andra and the kids. Most times you could catch him with a preferred burnt sausage biscuit, watching reruns of old westerns or the Little League World Series, or retelling stories of the good ole days.
Surviving him are his daughter Andra Barnes (Todd) of Beaufort, NC; granddaughters Lindley Farris (Ramsey) and Hunter Kate Agee (Owen); great-granddaughters Hadley Grace Barnes, Elsie May Agee and Vallie Capri Agee; and sisters Rachel Layton and Jane Burkhart of Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care Center, 333 E. Lee Avenue, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
