August 5, 1918 — January 3, 2014

Lila Mae Walser Lanning, 95 of Wilson Road, died Friday January 3, 2014 at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday January 8, 2014 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. William B. Shrout,Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Reeds Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Lanning was born in Davidson County on August 5,1918 to the late Luther Walser and Danner Weatherman Walser. She was a member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ, she was formerly employed with Yarborough Hosiery and worked at Hill Top Nursing Home for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffie Odell Lanning, brothers, Ralph Walser, Clyde Walser, Jack Walser and W.G. Walser. Surviving are sons, Jerry Lanning and friend Judy Dixon of Lexington; Wayne Lanning of the home; sister, Mary Swing of Lexington; granddaughter, Lora L. Foster and husband Danny of Lexington; great granddaughter, Heather Harris and husband Chris of Lexington; great great granddaughter, Addie Harris of Lexington; special friend, Amber. Memorials may be made to, Second Reformed United Church of Christ, 330 North Church St. Lexington,NC 27292 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
