Lexington; Mr. LeRoy Harvey Wilson, 89, a resident of Surfside Beach, SC, formerly of Lexington, died Monday, April 9, 2007 in Grandstrand Memorial Hospital in Myrtle Beach.. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M Thursday in Lexington City Cemetery, with the Rev. Don Leonard officiating. Military rites accorded by VFW post 3074. Mr. Wilson was born May 5, 1917 in Pickens County, SC to the late Oscar and Agnes Golightly Wilson. He retired as Director of Men’s Health Club, from the High Point YMCA, and he was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He also did some freelance advertising and copy writing, and after retirement authored a manuscript, entitled “Boone on the Yadkin” and adventure story for children of all ages. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WW II and he was a member of VFW Post 3074. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his wife, Edna Earnhardt Wilson. He is survived by; one daughter, Vicki Pharr of Surfside Beach, SC; two sisters, Dorothy Parlier of Atkins, Virginia, and Agnes Leonard, and her husband, Rev. Don Leonard of Lexington. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at their respective homes.
