Leroy Fitzgerald

Devid Leroy Fitzgerald, 79, of Swicegood Road, Linwood, died December 6, 2009 at Rowan Regional Hospital in Salisbury after an extended illness. He was born December 22, 1929, in Davidson County to the late Roger Pierce Fitzgerald, and Ethel Beatrice Swicegood Fitzgerald. Also preceding him in death was one brother Melvin Pierce Fitzgerald. Mr. Fitzgerald was a graduate of Churchland High School and was a veteran of the US Navy. Leroy was owner/ operator of Fitzgerald Heating Company, and a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Prissom officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by his wife Rosemae Fitzgerald of the home; one son Bobby Joe Fitzgerald of Lexington; one daughter Penny Jones and her husband Tony of Austell, GA; one brother Charlie Franklin Fitzgerald and his wife Thelma of Thomasville; one grandchild, T. J. Thompson, of Winston-Salem., The family will see friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home.
