Laurence Thelston Provost, 86, of N NC Highway 150, passed away Monday at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. Services will be private. Larry was a devoted father and husband; he was surrounded by the love of his family when God called him to rejoin his wife of 63 years. Born and raised in Gloucester, Ma, he soon moved to Northboro to raise their family. He put himself through school, received his business degree, and quickly entered the workforce; after several years as a comptroller at Cadillac Olds he moved to automobile sales for the remainder of his career. Larry was a longtime member and Deacon of Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Northboro, Ma. Before moving to NC in 1992, he enjoyed golfing and reading, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry was known for his wit and humor, and never met a stranger, he was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith, parents Kathleen and Ernest Provost, 2 grandchildren, Patrick Alan Provost and Robert Lawrence Provost. The family wishes to extend thanks to his “special” caretakers in the memory care unit at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. Surviving are son, Lawrence Provost of Winston Salem, daughters, Linda Provost of Winston Salem, Christine Provost of Raleigh, NC, and Susan Heiss (Steve) of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Gregory Laurence Provost, Gabrielle Heiss and Erin Provost; and great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Payton, and Haydden Austin.
