Laura Ann Samuels

Laura passed away Friday February 7, 2025 at Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County after an extended illness. She was born January 4, 1952 in Davidson County where she was a lifelong resident.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Mock and Thelma Burkhalter Shoaf. She worked for Dakota Cotton Mills and then Davidson County Schools until her retirement in 2013. Laura is survived by her husband of 52 years, James R. Samuels; her children Adrian (Jennifer) Samuels, Crystal Samuels, and Wesley Shane Samuels; grandchildren Anakin Samuels and Elyse Oliveira; great-grandchildren Esme` Sain and Ariyah Grim; and siblings Wendell (Kathy) Shoaf and Catherine (Paul) Fuehrerr. Before her illness she was active member of Coggins Church in the choir and with the youth groups. The family would like to thank Martie J. Temple for all of her help and assistance with Laura over the past several years, Atrium-Baptist Cancer Center Intensive Care and the Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to support Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson in memory of Laura A. Samuels.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Scott Slaughter officiating Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service at the church.
