Kenneth Greene, Sr.

James Kenneth Greene, Sr., 75, of Simerson Road, Linwood, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Alston Brook Nursing Center. Mr. Greene was born Dec. 31, 1931 in Davidson County to George Thomas Greene Sr. and Amanda Jane Snider. He retired from the NC Finishing Company after 43 years of service and was an avid farmer. His wife, Jean Carol Taylor Greene; a son, Tommy Ray Greene; a daughter, Valli Jane Greene, and a brother, George Thomas Greene, Jr. preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Johnny Greene and his wife, Rita of Linwood, and Kenny Greene and his wife, Sherry of Salisbury; a daughter, Kelly Yarbrough and husband, Ronnie of Linwood; his grandchildren, Amy Greene Stewart and husband Todd, Valli Yarbrough Watson, and husband, Robbee, Paul Yarbrough and wife, Kristen, Sarah Yarbrough Trogdon, and husband, Matt, Samantha Greene, Lisa and Doug Smith, and Amy and Bobby Blankenship; and his great grandson, Johnovan Jett Stewart. Service: A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Churchland Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Sam Harvey. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home of the daughter on Simerson Road, Linwood.
