Kathy Joyner Shoaf, 66 of Lexington, North Carolina passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on September 22, 2025 after a brief, but courageous fight with cancer.
She was an avid reader, talented crafter, and a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. From soccer games, chorus concerts, weekly grocery trips and holidays on the farm, she embodied the meaning of family, including chosen family. Once you were family, you were family. She was home personified to anyone who was given the opportunity to love her.
Kathy was born on April 6, 1959 in Wilmington, North Carolina to parents James "Jimmy" Joyner and Patricia Sneeden. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, stepfather Glenn, and sister Rita Talbert. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Wendell Shoaf, her brother Jay (Vicky), children Frankie (Stacy) and Amber, grandchildren Steven, Jenna, Michelle, Brandon, Alyssa, Jalyn, and Adam, as well as 5 great-grandchildren.
The family will have a 30-minute viewing for close friends and family beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Piedmont Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Primitive Baptist Church, 7419 South NC Highway 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
