Kate Yow Kepley

Kate Yow Kepley, 86, of Brian Center of Lexington and formerly of Woodhaven Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Brian Center. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cotton Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. David Shaffer. Mrs. Kepley was born in Davidson County on March 13, 1920, to Walter Yow and Minnie Carrick Yow. She was the owner of Erlanger Beauty Shop and a member of Coggins Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest J. Kepley, on July 27, 1997; a granddaughter, Leigh Kepley Hutton; a brother, Charlie Yow; and five sisters, Hazel Cecil, Ethel Cecil, Pauline Byerly, Lucy Sharpe and Frances Sink. Surviving are one son, E. Van Kepley and his wife, Sarah, of Lexington; one stepson, J. Don Kepley and his wife, Evelyn, of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Mitzi Kepley Gardner of Apex, Rebekah Kepley, Christopher Kepley, Amanda Church, Steven Church and Lynne Kepley Cleckley and her husband, Miles, all of Lexington, and James D. Kepley Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Richmond, Va.; nine great-grandchildren, Alex Gardner of Apex, Mackenzie Sain, Mary Cameron Cleckley Stoner and Joshua Hutton, all of Lexington, Evelyn Cleckley Rojas and her husband, Rick, of Chicago, Ill., Taylor and Claire Kepley of Richmond, Va., Callison Comerford of Charlotte and Jason Hutton of Gainesville, Fla.; four great-great-grandchildren, Miles Stoner, Palmer Rojas, Cameron Comerford and Jacob Hutton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son on Woodhaven Drive.
