Karen Chrisley Wallace

December 15, 1941 — March 13, 2025

Karen Chrisley Wallace, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Karen was born in Pulaski, Virginia to Walter and Ethel McGraw Chrisley. She worked as a CNA in hospitals and nursing homes for much of her working life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Baxter Leroy Wallace, and three brothers Walter, Jerry and Patton.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Lee Wallace and daughter-in-law Leslie of Greensboro, daughter Kelly Standridge and son-in-law Miles of Georgia.  She also leaves behind her four grandchildren, Emily, Jessee, Sarah and Lucas, 15 nieces and nephews, and her sisters Alta, Velma and Evelyn.

Known as "Freda" to her family and friends, she was admired for her resilience, her independence, and her selfless generosity. Her homes were surrounded by lush flower gardens that she cultivated herself and gladly shared. A lover of books, she read as many as three novels a week and accumulated a large personal collection that was shared widely.

She enjoyed painting and rehabbing her own furniture and home and stayed active well into her autumn years.

In lieu of flowers, all are encouraged to make donations to the Lexington Public Library. Books about gardening, cats and fictional detectives are suggested.

A date for a celebration of Freda's life for friends and family is being planned.
