Kenneth Wayne Grubb, 86, of Sowers Road, died Sunday at Magnolia Gardens, after declining health of two years and a serious illness of three weeks. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 11, at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, by the Revs. Brian Alexander and Lamar Moore. Mr. Grubb was born October 3, 1921 in Davidson County to Jay Hugh Grubb and Amanda Snider Grubb. He was a graduate of Catawba College, earned his Master’s Degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and did additional studies at Duke University. He retired from the Davidson County Schools after 35 years, having taught at Churchland High School and West Davidson High School and serving as Principal of Churchland Elementary School. He devoted his life to education and was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lenora Lynn Grubb; his brothers: Walter Layne Grubb, who was his twin, Durward L. Grubb, and Paul Grubb; and a sister, Doris Grubb Nance. Surviving are his wife, Alma Jarratt Grubb of the home; two sons: Keith Grubb and wife, Myla, of Lexington and Stanley Grubb, and wife, Teresa, of Deep Gap; and three grandchildren: Jennifer Grubb and Christopher Grubb, both of Deep Gap, and Jessica Grubb of Lexington. The family will receive friends at the home on Sowers Road. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
