December 26, 1940 — December 30, 2008

Leah June York Everhart, 68, of Thomason Street, Lexington, died Tuesday, December 30 in Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after being in declining health for three years, and seriously ill for eight weeks. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 3 at Grace Alliance Church with Rev. Roy Solvig and Randy Gobble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Everhart was born on December 26, 1940 in Davidson County to Charlie York and Nellie Burkhart York. She was an employee of Lexington Home Brands as long as health permitted and was a member of Grace Alliance Church, where she was a member of the Young at Heart Group. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Lexington Moose Lodge. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband, John Jacob Everhart, and two sisters, Betty Canady and Ottie Foster. Mrs. Everhart is survived by her daughter, Valerie Everhart of the home, her son, Johnny Everhart and his wife Cathy of Lexington, four sisters, Mary McBride and her husband, Maurice of Holden Beach, NC, Lois Perryman, Diane Parsons, and Dorann Dunlap all of Lexington. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jessica Everhart, Jake Everhart, and Joshua Everhart and her best friend for over forty years, Doncilla Perry. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the home of her son, Johnny Everhart, 667 E.L. Myers Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
