Joyce Elizabeth Price

Joyce Elizabeth Bowie Price, 85, of Chestnut Street, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at her home. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, March 31, 2018, at First Reformed United Church of Christ, where she was a member. The Rev. Elizabeth Horton, Rev. June Grubb, and the Rev. Mike Hooper will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 P.M., prior to the service at the church, and burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.   Mrs. Price was born in Ironsides, MD. on November 3, 1932, to Benjamin F. Bowie Sr. and Mary E. Bowie. Her husband V.G. Price Jr. and brothers, Joseph W. Bowie Sr., Benjamin F. Bowie Jr., and Douglas W. Bowie preceded her in death.   Mrs. Price was a graduate of Campbell College and Greensboro Women’s College, and served as an educator and Dean of Girls for Lexington City Schools.  At First Reformed United Church of Christ, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Elder, and she was a member of The Friendship Circle. Surviving are her daughter, Valerie E. Price of the home and special sister Sally Davis, her brother Alton J. Bowie and sisters, Olive Perry, Judy Tippett, and many beloved nieces and nephews.   In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Reformed United Church of Christ, and to the V. G. Price Jr. Scholarship Fund in care of First Reformed United Church of Christ, 104 East Center Street, Lexington, North Carolina, 27292.
