Joseph “Clyde” Hicks, 63 of Eagleridge Court died Wednesday morning, October 14, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be at 10:00 am Saturday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by Preacher Eric Cornett. Interment will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends afterwards at the home of John Hicks on Rosewood Drive. Mr. Hicks was born June 7, 1952 in Avery County to Lewis Henry Hicks and Mary Alice Greene Hicks. He was self-employed in the construction industry. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was a daughter, Barbara Ann Hicks Rummage in 1989; brothers Roger Collas Hicks, and James Nathan Hicks; and sister Ada Mae Presnell. Surviving are his wife Susan Everhart Hicks of the home; sons Roger Alan Hicks (Marcie Brewster) of Lenoir City, TN and Billy Joe Hicks (Rusty) of Pierce, AZ; brother, Johnny Dale Hicks of Lexington; sisters, Gladys Cornett of Sugar Grove, NC, and Alice Virginia Farmer of Lexington; and four grandchildren, Ariel Giles, Alexandria Barlow, Robin Nicole Hicks and Tiffany Smith.
