Mr. John Samuel Spranza, Sr., 95, of Lexington died Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Abbott’s Creek Care and Rehabilitation. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be Monday, June 1, 2020 in The Timberlake Chapel of Piedmont Funeral Home with the Rev. David Langley officiating. Burial will follow in Statesville, NC. Mr. Spranza was born March 10, 1925 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania to the late Santo and Palma Lodico Spranza. Of the Christian faith, he was previously a route driver for Camel City Laundry in Winston-Salem, and a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He was pre-deceased by a half-brother, Sandy Spranza. Surviving are sons John Samuel Spranza, Jr. (Leann) of Ga., and James Larry Spranza and Thomas Gary Spranza (Stephanie) all of Lexington; daughter Susie Spranza Holder of Lexington; grandchildren John Samuel Spranza, III, Angela Renee McKenzie, Mindy Rugg, Jason Varner, and Jared Spranza; great-grandchildren John Spranza, IV, Nick Spranza, Jessica Heard, Chaney Varner, Ivy Varner, Heather Gustafson, Tyler Spranza, Mason Spranza, and Austin Spranza; and great-great-grandson Kaiden Varner. Also surviving are sister Pam Martin and husband George of Cleveland, OH.
