John F. Raker, Jr, age 77 of Charlotte, died Saturday, April 19, 2008. Born May 19, 1930, he was the son of the late John F. Raker and Bernice Ward Raker. A native of Lexington, NC, Mr. Raker attended the University of North Carolina and graduated from the University of South Carolina, was a US Army Veteran, a member of the Oasis Shrine and was a Mason. John was a Manufacturers Representative. He never met a stranger and enjoyed people from all walks of life. Mr. Raker was a Living Legend in the North Myrtle Beach Society of Stranders, a true legend on the Grandstand since the 1940’s John is survived by his wife Mary, children Johnny, Lewis and his wife, Carol, daughter, Sally, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and sister; Mary B. Little. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in Forest Hill Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Walter Patten, PhD, intentional interim minister, of First Reformed United Church of Christ. The family is grateful to the staff of Carrington Place for their devoted care of John.
