John Myers

June 17, 1917 — January 28, 2008

Mr. John K. Myers, Sr. age 90 of Lexington, NC died Monday, January 28 at Alston Brook Nursing Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 31 at Forest Hill Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Tommy Wilson with interment to follow Mr. Myers was born June 17, 1917 in Davidson County to Phillip Arthur Myers and Fleta Everhart Myers. He graduated from Lexington Senior High School in 1934 and continued his education at Wake Forest University. While attending Wake Forest he played defensive back and offensive line on the football team. Mr. Myers was the retired owner of Myers & Craver Coal Company. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Lexington where he served several terms as a deacon, taught Sunday School and was a leader for the youth Baptist Training Union. John was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Green Myers as well as one brother and four sisters. He is survived by his brother, Fred C. “Bill” Myers and wife Jesse of Welcome, his children, Martha Adams and husband Robert, John K. Myers, Jr. and wife Geryl, and Cindy Lanier all of Lexington; Tom Myers and wife Nancy of Mobile, Al, and Suzanne Andrews and husband John of Charlotte. Grandchildren Elizabeth Erickson, Jeff Adams, Kathryn Everhart, Jennifer Everhart, April Myers, Tim Dayton, John Andrews, Leslie McDaniel and Randi Lanier. Thirteen Great Grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. The family will see friends from 6;00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home. Memorials may be may to First Baptist Church, PO Box 436, Lexington, NC 27293 or to the charity of the donors choice.
