John Edward Duggins, Jr.

Mr. John Edward Duggins, Jr. 82, of Haden Grove Church Road died Sunday, January 17, 2021 at his home. A funeral service will be Friday at 1:00 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Hospice Chaplain Ben Vogler. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Duggins will lie in state at Piedmont Funeral Home Thursday from 2-5 PM. The family will not be present at this time, and Covid-19 protocols are suggested to be followed at all services. Mr. Duggins was born in Davidson County March 31, 1938 to the late John Edward Duggins, Sr. and Ruth Iona Varker Duggins. A US Navy Veteran, he had retired from Thermo Products. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and an avid Marty Robbins fan. He was predeceased by a brother Raymond Leroy Duggins, and two sisters, Bobbi Makous and Brenda Hoilman. . Surviving are his wife, Essie Cope Duggins of the home; sons Erik Todd Duggins and John Mitchell Duggins (Elizabeth) all of Linwood; grandchildren Derrick, Andrea, Bethany, and John Nicholas (Sabrina); two step-grandsons; and one step-great-grandson. Also surviving is sister Bonnie Hackett of Winston-Salem. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Lane, Lexington, NC 27292.
