Joanne Stevens Potts

  Joanne Stevens Potts was born on September 24, 1932 in Colonial Heights, Va. to Joe and Annie Mae (Cox) Stevens. She was a graduate of Petersburg (Va) High School, Mary Washington College, and Southern Baptist Seminary with a Master’s Degree in Religious Education. Joanne married Dale E. Potts in 1964 and after retirement, they moved to Lexington, NC. They were members of First Baptist Church. She is survived by two children, Raymond D. Potts (Russell Anne) of Walterboro, SC, and Ralph B. Potts of Fredericksburg , Va.; three grandchildren, Courtney Potts of Blufton, SC, Cameron (Jillian) Potts of Los Angeles, California, and Kendall Potts of Wilmington, NC; and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Congleton. Also surviving are one sister, Nancy Steward, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Eleanor Neal.  A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church conducted by the Rev Randy Hall. The family will have a reception after the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 436, Lexington, NC  27293.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to her faithful and loving caregivers, and to Hospice of Davidson County.
