James "Jim" Christopher Martin Sr., 86, of Alston Brook, died Wednesday, July 26 2006, at the health care center. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Max Shoaf. Burial will be in Holly Brook Cemetery, Lincolnton. Mr. Martin was born April 28, 1920, in Fairfield County, S.C., to Jasper Franklin Martin and Julia Falkner Martin, who preceded him in death. Mr. Martin was owner and operator of Transit Damaged Freight. Surviving are one daughter, Tracie Landreth and her husband, Mickey, of Linwood; five sons, Larry Rogers and his wife, Sue, of Denver, N.C., and James C. Martin Jr. and his wife, Judy, Jerry Martin and his wife, Allowayne, Randy Martin and his wife, Cathy, and Tommy Martin and his wife, Belinda, all of Lexington; one sister, Margaret Keever and her husband, Ernest, of Maiden; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home of Tracie Landreth on Haden Grove Road.
