Jesse Mock Callahan, Jr., 70, a resident of Crews Lake Road, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 in Alston Brook. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Friday from the Grace Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member with the Rev. Gene Davis, Rev. Dr. Gary Gibson and Rev. Chip Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Jesse was born March 21, 1938 in Davidson County, NC to the late Jesse Martin Callahan and Ila Williams Callahan. He was a retired employee of Dixie Furniture, was involved in the Bus Ministry for many years at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, and was a Volunteer Fireman with Reeds Fire Department. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his wife, Edna Sloan Callahan, brothers, Troy Callahan, and Hobert Callahan, sisters, Bertha Yarborough, and Faye Gibson, a grandson, Joseph Pressley. Jesse is survived by a son, Michael Dean Callahan and his wife Michelle of Kernersville, daughters, Tina Pressley and her husband, James of Lexington, Sherri Denise Ray and her husband, Rev. Chip Ray, of Ball Ground, Georgia, brothers, Phil Callahan of the Reedy Creek Community and Billy Jack Callahan , sisters, Nina Tesh and her husband, David, Julia Burkhart all of Lexington. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jesse Ray and his wife, Ashley, Melissa Ray, Caleb Ray, and Katie Ray, a great grandson, Ethan Ray. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the home of the daughter, Tina Pressley, 376 Hedrick Heritage Drive, Lexington.
