James Edwin Shoaf,89, of Tyro Road passed away Wednesday January 10, 2024 at his home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Sandy Creek Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow in at the cemetery. James was born in Davidson County on November 13, 1934 to the late Fred Casey Shoaf, Sr. and Bessie Goldman Leonard Shoaf. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. James loved fishing, farming and raising chickens. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Louise Waller Shoaf and companion, Nancy Williams, brothers, Telo Shoaf, Bud Shoaf, Tom Shoaf and Charles Henry Shoaf , sisters, Louise Simmerson, Kathleen Grubb, Mabel Koontz and Maxine Richardson. Surviving are son, Randal James Shoaf and wife Angela of River Falls, Wisconsin, daughter, Donna Shoaf Gardner and husband John of Clemmons, brothers, Fred Casey Shoaf, Jr. of Lexington, Billy Wayne Shoaf and wife Helen of Tyro and Donald R. Shoaf of Tyro, sister, Tina May of Tyro, grandchildren, Sarah Jean Shoaf and Zachary John Gardner and wife, Heather. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Cemetery fund, 4299 South NC Highway 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
