James Harry Mathews

Mr. James Harry Mathews, 83, of Leonard Road died Monday, December 9, 2019 at his home.  The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Mr. Mathews was born in Guilford County on August 5, 1936 to the late James Woodrow and Beulah Stuart Mathews.  A US Army veteran, he was of the Baptist faith and had retired as a security guard for Loss Prevention Services. His brother, Jimmy Darrell Mathews and sister Delores McClamrock preceded him in death.  Surviving are his wife Gail Sherrill Mathews of the home; daughters Jamie Gail Stewart of the home, and Mona Gail Smith and husband Billy of Linwood. Also surviving are grandchildren Amber Biesecker, Lydia Stewart, Brittney Turner, and Taylor Leonard, and great-grandchildren Brayden Turner and Brailey Turner.  Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292.
