James Rhynard Foster, 82, a resident of Lexington Health Care, formerly of West Old Highway 64, Lexington, died Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 3:22 PM in Lexington Health Care. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 11:00 AM, from the First Lutheran Church where he was an active member, with Pastor Derek Boggs officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Foster was born in Davie County, NC on June 12, 1925 to the late Dewey and Blanche Tucker Foster. He was a former employee of J.A. Jones Construction and later retired from John S. Clark Construction in Mt. Airy. He was a veteran of WW II, serving with the US Army Air Corp, 13th Air Force, 200th Bomber Group, as a Ball Turret Gunner on the B-17. He flew 37 missions over North Africa, Germany, and Italy and later served with the National Guard. He was a member of the Reeds American Legion Post, and former President and member of the Reeds Civitan Club. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his wife, Mary Kepley Foster. He is survived by three sons, Rick Foster and his wife Debbie, Chris Foster, and his wife Susan, all of Lexington; and Phil Foster, and his wife, Vickie of Snow Camp, NC; a daughter, Teena Walker of Lexington; a brother, Robert Foster of Blowing Rock, and a sister, Louise Smith of Advance. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home, and other times will be at the home of the daughter, Teena Walker, 149 Kepley Sink Road, Lexington.
