James Duke Dyson

James Duke Dyson,78, of Old Salisbury Road, died Wednesday December 20, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House.   Funeral service will be held  3:00 PM Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Renee Easter, the Rev. Charles Lindquist, Jr. and the Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Coast Guard and the Davidson County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 2-3 PM  prior to the service at the Funeral Home.   Mr. Dyson was born in Rowan County on June 29, 1939 to the late Baxter Clyde Dyson and Laura Ervin Koontz. He was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard and was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Henry Link Furniture. He was preceded in death by his son, James David Dyson, brother, Baxter Poole, sisters, Geraldine Koontz and Ollie Wilson.   Surviving are his wife Beverly Kennedy Dyson of the home, son, Greg Dyson (Julie) of Lexington, sister, Kathleen Dennis of Linwood, grandchildren, Merrick Ray Dyson and Riley Paige Dyson and lots of loving nieces and nephews.   Memorials may be made to, Hospice of Davidson County, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington,NC 27292 or to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Piedmont Triad Chapter, 312 North Eugene Street, Suite D, Greensboro, NC 27401.
