J.B. “Paw Paw” Davis, 80, of Foy Ave. died Friday Evening at his home. Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday July 22, 2014 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Messer officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Elkin, NC. Family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home. J.B was born inWilkes County on February 27, 1934 to the late James Rufus Davis and Elsie Alma Roberts Davis. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Broome. Surviving are his wife, Eva Burchette Davis of the home; son, Bobby Davis and wife Sissy of Lexington; daughters, Betty Oliver and husband Jeff of Willingboro,NJ; Nettie McIntosh and husband Gerome and Alma Byrd and husband Dewey of Lexington; sister, Edna Griffin of New York, NY.; nine grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington,NC 27292.
