James Marvin Chaffin

James “Jim” Marvin Chaffin, 66, of Old Mill Farm Rd. died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington Medical Center.   A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Elton Wilborne officiating. burial to follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the home of the daughter on Old Mill Farm Rd.   James was born December 4, 1947 in Davidson County to the late Robert L. and Martha Byerly Chaffin. He retired from Performance Fibers and also retired as a Major from the US Army after 23 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going camping. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, John Wesley Chaffin.   Surviving are his wife, Donna Prevette Chaffin of the home; daughter Jennifer Broyles and husband Jerry of Lexington; brothers Bruce Chaffin of Lexington, Robert “Bobby” Chaffin and wife Rita of Apex, and Donald Chaffin and wife Myrna of Texas; sister, Mildred Mize of Lexington; and grandchildren Gabe Broyles and Samantha Broyles.
