James Byerly 71, formerly of Adams street passed away Thursday morning in Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh after four years of declining health. James was born January 30, 1937 in Davidson County to Everette Lee and Julia Wilson Byerly. He was retired from Carolina Panel Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Paul Byerly, Bruce Byerly, and Jack Byerly all of Lexington, Raymond Byerly of Thomasville, Roy Byerly of Elkin, and Ardell Byerly of Denton. A funeral service will be 4:00PM Saturday in Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev David Robinson officiating with burial to follow in Heath Church cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 to 4:00 pm prior to the service. Surviving are, a son, Thomas Lindsey “T.O.” Byerly of Lexington, sisters; Margaret Byerly and Mildred Robinson, both of Lexington and Bertha Swicegood of Southmont; two special nieces Donese Goodnough, and Tammy Swicegood both of Lexington.
