James William Atwell, Jr.

  Mr. James William Atwell, Jr., 82, of Pinetop Road died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington Medical Center.  A memorial service will be Friday at 10:00 am at Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, conducted by the Rev. Chris Bitterman. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Inurnment of the cremains will be private at a later date.  Mr. Atwell was born in Davidson, NC on October 14, 1935 to the late James William Atwell, Sr. and Martha Winecoff Atwell. A US Air Force Veteran, he retired from the VA Hospital in Salisbury, NC. He was also predeceased by a brother, Jerry Atwell.  Surviving are his wife, Kay Atwell of the home; sons Gary Atwell (Cyndi) of Spencer, and Jim Atwell (Jeanne) of Colorado; daughter Donna Ransom of Salisbury; one granddaughter, Christie Ryerson; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Damon. Also surviving is one brother, Jeff Atwell.  Memorials may be made to Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church, One Grace Way, Lexington, NC  27295.
