Iris Queen

Mrs. Iris Leonard Queen, age 86 of Swicegood Waitman Road, Lexington, NC died Saturday, May 15 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro after an illness of 3 months. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 18 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Tommy Wilson. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home Mrs. Queen was born August 5, 1923 in Davidson County to Ira Odell Leonard and Hallie Marie Tysinger Leonard. She was a graduate of Ashemore Business College and a retired teacher’s assistant with the Lexington City School system. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was married to Richard Murphy Queen who died November 19, 2004. Mrs. Queen is survived by a daughter Rosalind “Lindy” Queen of the home; a sister Bonnie Smith and husband Charles of Lexington and several nieces and nephews.
