Irene Call Hicks

Irene Call Hicks, 94, of Larry Drive died Tuesday at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Lewis Johns. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 – 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mrs. Hicks was born in Davidson County on November 8, 1919 to the late Charlie Vestal and Bertha Mae Foster Call. A charter member of Coggins Memorial Baptist Church, she enjoyed tending her flower garden. She was a retired employee of Philpott Furniture Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Hicks, grandson, Jay Meissner, brothers, Vestal and Franklin Call, and sisters Ollie Mae Koontz and Rebecca Curry. Surviving are her daughter, Becky H. Meissner of Gowanda, NY; granddaughter, Jill Frazier and husband Chad of New York; great-grandchildren, Melinda Frazier, Shannon Frazier, Zoe Frazier, and Colton Frazier; brothers Foster and Cecil Call both of Lexington, and Charles Call of Florida; and sister-in-law Shuler Hicks of Belmont, NC.
