Irene Berrier Bryant

Irene Berrier Lyerly Bryant, 81, a resident of Alston Brook formerly of Haden Grove Church Road, Linwood died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, after being in declining health for two weeks. A funeral service will be Friday at 2:00 PM at Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Lori Anne Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Bryant was born in Davidson County on August 14, 1927 to the late Wade Berrier and Ester Byerly Berrier. She was a retired employee of Lexington Home Brands and was a member of Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Church Choir and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Spencer Moose Lodge, and the AMVETS and VFW Women’s Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her first husband, Harry Lee Lyerly and her second husband, Hovie Bryant. She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Wade Lyerly, a daughter, Anita Louise Lyerly, two sisters, Ida Rebecca Berrier, and Dorothy Berrier, six brothers, Garland Berrier, Will Berrier, Grady Berrier, Wayne Berrier, Pete Berrier, and Coy Berrier. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Stone and her husband David of Johnsonville, SC, and Janice Owen and her husband David of Southmont, her son, Harry Lee Lyerly, Jr. of Linwood, her sister, Betty Spry and her husband Garland of Advance, four brothers, Mock Berrier and his wife Pat, Ed Berrier and his wife Betty, and Gabby Berrier and his wife Brenda all of Linwood, and Sherman Berrier and his wife Peggy of Denton. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the home of her granddaughter, Crystal Cooper, 188 Pete Fritts Road, Lexington.
