Ira Lee Snider, 97, of Old U.S. Highway 52, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Brian Center of Lexington. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Welcome, where he was a member, by the Revs. Mark Blair and Cynthia Arnold. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Snider was born Sept. 13, 1909, in Davidson County to William H. Snider and Olivia Koonts Snider. He retired as owner and operator of Snider's Truck Bed and Body Repair and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. He formerly had served as a deacon at his church. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his first wife, Mary Sharpe Snider; one brother, John William Snider; and two sisters, Mary Snider Craver and Pauline Snider Pickle. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Cox Snider of Linwood; one daughter, Nancy Kepley and her husband, Kep, of Linwood; three stepdaughters, Margaret Trexler and her husband, Keith, of Linwood, and Doris Schermen and Mary Myers, both of Titusville, Fla.; two brothers, Dr. Bobby Snider and his wife, Dottie, and Paul Snider and his wife, Peggy, all of Lexington; two grandchildren, Mitchell Kepley and his wife, Sherri, of Linwood and Kep Kepley III and his wife, Stephanie, of Sanford; five great-grandchildren, Dustin Kepley, Morgan Kepley, Katarina Kepley, Peyton Kepley and Graceain Kepley; six stepgrandchildren, Wes Sutton and his wife, Molly, Wade Ridenhour and his wife, Emily, Tory Trexler and her husband, Keith, Michael Scherman and his wife, Cindy, Julie O'Malley and her husband, Dan, and Janet Elrod; and five stepgreat-grandchildren, Daniel O'Malley, Katie O'Malley, Sarah Scherman, Kaitlyn Trexler and Alex Trexler. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at their respective homes. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice
