Inez Smith Vanderford

Inez Smith Vanderford, 82, of Kernersville, formerly of Rockcrusher Road, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Frankie Matthews. Interment will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Vanderford was born March 19, 1924, in Davidson County to David H. and Cora Ada Yarborough Smith. She was a graduate of Lexington Business College and retired from First Union National Bank in 1983 with 20 years of service. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Thomas E. Vanderford, and a son, David Vanderford Sr. Surviving are one sister, Ellen Wrenn of Lexington; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Cockerham of Kernersville; two grandchildren, David Vanderford Jr. and his wife, Shannon, of Walkertown and Brian Vanderford and his wife, Rebecca, of Salisbury; and three great-grandchildren, Dustin, Hailey and Kaysie Vanderford, all of Walkertown, and Nathan Vanderford of Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Piedmont Funeral Home.
