Ida Johnette “Nurse” Lambeth, age 55, resident of Old Salisbury Road, Lexington who died Monday, July 27, 2009 at her home. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Chris Templon officiating. Ms. Johnette was born September 21, 1953 in Randolph County to the late John Henry Lambeth, Sr. and Frances McDonald Lambeth. She attended Central High School and traveled out west prior to living in Mt. Airy and Lexington for the past 20 years. She headed the Native American Village at the Multi-Cultural Festival for nine years. The Native American name that was given to her was “Soothing Rain.” She taught Native American culture through storytelling, dream catcher and bracelet making for area school systems and Scouts. Johnette was a talented jewelry artisan whose work was greatly valued. Her other passion included a deep love of music and regular “singing of the blues” at several clubs. She participated in many fund-raising concerts to help those in need. Of special note is her beloved dogs, Willie and Sugar Babe, who proceeded her in death. She is survived by one son, Timothy Joshua Stanley, of Ararat, NC; four brothers, Gary Jenkins and his wife, Martha, of Sneads Ferry, NC.; John Jenkins and his wife, Tricia, Andy Jenkins and his wife, Alice, all of Lexington, and John H. Lambeth Jr. of Linwood; three sisters, Joan Cope and her husband, Jimmy, of Linwood, Connie Carrick and her husband, Howard, of Denton, and Tamra Lambeth Mell of Greensboro, NC. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Camryn Reese Stanley and John Griffin Stanley. The family will receive friends after the Memorial Service at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the Crisis Ministry of Davidson County, 107 East First Ave., Lexington, N.C. 27292. A Circle of Friends gathering will be held September 19-20, 2009, at Mike Evans Farm in Asheboro, NC.
