Howard Wayne Bennett, born on October 23, 1956, in Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away on December 31, 2025, at the VA Hospital in Salisbury, North Carolina. He was a devoted individual whose life was marked by his love for family, dedication to his work, and especially his steadfast faith, which was a defining characteristic that everyone knew about him.
Howard had an impactful career in marine manufacturing, serving diligently at Hunter Marine, Inc. in Florida for 20 years. His commitment and expertise in his field were well-regarded, contributing to the reputation of the company during his tenure.
A proud veteran, Howard served in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1976. This experience was a fundamental part of his life, instilling in him values of service and discipline that he carried throughout his years.
His educational journey began at Gray's Chapel Elementary, continued at Northeast Guilford Middle, and culminated at Eastern Randolph High School. He cherished the knowledge he gained during his formative years.
Howard was of the Independent Baptist faith. He led a life enriched with hobbies, most notably enjoying Haddie gem mining and rock collecting, as well as being an amazing artist.
His legacy will be carried on by his loving family. He is remembered fondly by Jimmietta Sadler, who served as a special friend and caregiver providing support and companionship. Uncle Howard is also survived and respected by his nieces, Donna Nicholson and Marie Brown, and his nephews, Barry Bates and Mitchell Bates.
He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him and deeply missed. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Dewey Bennett and Martha Adams Lockman Bennett, and his sister, Gail Bates, who passed in 2023.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
