Helen Cope White

Helen Verdie Cope White, 77, of Brian Center Nursing Care and formerly of Pleasant Garden, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by preacher Clyde Akers. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. Mrs. White was born May 7, 1929, in Davidson County to Olin Ivory and Grace Byerly Cope. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Matthew Drew Richardson; a son, Norman Dale Haskins; two brothers, James Cope Sr. and Paul Cope; and a sister, Rachel Hull. Surviving are her husband, William Enoise White of Rock Hill, S.C.; two sons, Pete Cope and his wife, Kathy, of Lexington and Olin Richardson and his fiancee, Teresa Bowden, of Linwood; two daughters, Margaret Gaynelle Lowery and her husband, Don, of Wilmington and Debbie Lynn Richardson of Butner; six sisters, Sadie Miller, Bernice Hill and her husband, Loyd, Essie Duggins and her husband, Johnny, Betty Daubenmyer and her husband, Jack, Mary Burrus and her husband, Alan, and Judy Stanley and her husband, Dallas, all of Lexington; a brother, Bobby Cope and his wife, Colleen, of Lexington; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of a son, Olin Richardson, 442 Clark Road, Lot No. 28. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
