Helen Shoaf Simerson

Helen Shoaf Simerson, 89, of Jubilee Road died Thursday, December 11 in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 13 at the Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Helen was born February 2, 1919 in Davidson County to James Shoaf and Fannie Walser Shoaf. She was a homemaker and seamstress and enjoyed making clothes. She was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, church custodian, and had served on the communion committee and on the building committee. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband, Bradford Simerson, a son, Ronnie Simerson and a brother Hollis Shoaf. Mrs. Simerson is survived by her sons, James Simerson and his wife Zelda, and Lonnie Simerson and his wife Violet, all of Linwood, her sister , Mary Frances Michael and her husband Harry, of Lexington. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Scott Simerson, Mark Simerson, Keith Simerson, Terri Couch, Paula Simerson, Kim Yarborough and Shane Simerson, her great grandchildren, Devin Connor, Adam Simerson, Andrew Couch, Kaylee Couch, Hailey Wallace, Nathan Simerson, Nicholas Simerson, Brittainy Simerson, Sadie Simerson, Emily Yarborough and Erica Yarborough. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service in the Smith Grove Baptist Church and other times will be at the home of her son, James Simerson, 1201 Jubilee Road, Linwood. Memorials in Helen’s memory may be sent to Smith Grove Baptist Church, 3462 Sowers Road, Linwood, NC 27299.
