Hazel Koonts Michael

Hazel Catherine Koonts Michael, 90, of South NC Highway 150, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Lexington Health Care. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Matthew Farbow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Michael was born in Davidson County, NC on November 25, 1918 to the late Mack Webster Koonts and Mary Bessie Sink Koonts. She retired from Dixie Furniture and was a lifetime member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and was past president and was a member of the Senior Citizens group. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband, Lewis Franklin Michael, Sr., 7 brothers and 1 sister. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and always had a special snack for them. She is survived by her daughters, Ann Smith and her husband Billy of Linwood, Mae Houck and her husband Clyde of Lexington, and Florence Snider and her husband, Norbert of Denton, her sons, Franklin Michael, Jr., and his wife Lula Belle and Ravon Michael and his wife Ozelle all of Lexington. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home, on S. NC Highway 150.
